Back, Spinal Cord, ScapulaRegion

At this station, you will be using the Complete Anatomy application on your iPad, to identify neurovasculature of the back, spinal cord, and scapular regions.

There will be two images to work through by filling in tables provided in your workbook. Once you have completed the answers for the images provided, your instructor may ask you relevant questions.

Image 1: Arteries and nerves of the scapular region as seen within the anatomical spaces of the shoulder:

The first image you will work through involves the arteries and nerves of the scapular region as seen within the anatomical spaces of the shoulder. You previously labeled a cadaveric image in your workbooks that had the musculature removed from it. Avoid reviewing this image while working at this station. Try to label the neurovasculature with the muscles intact. You will also be expected to identify the muscles at this station.  Click on the button to open the first image
Once you have opened this image, you will see that there are a number of structures labeled Structure 1 – 10 that are to be identified.

Working with your instructor, identify the structures and fill in the table provided in your work book. Note that you may need to tap on each structure label to see the associated tag. During this session, your faculty instructor will quiz you on a number of structures and answer any questions you may have.

Image 2: Nerves of the back and shoulder:

For the second image, click on the button to access this image. This is a good time to observe the relationships between the muscles and nerves of the back. Again, you will fill in the table provided in your laboratory manual. Your instructor will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding this image.

If the instructor does not have time to go through this second image with you during the session, it is then up to you to seek out a faculty member if you have any questions about the labelling.
