Station 3: Begin at this station by teaming up with a group of three or four colleagues. You will be using the Complete Anatomy application on one of the large computers in the laboratory (not the Sectra tables) to identify structures of the skull, meninges, and dural venous sinuses. There will be two images to work through by filling in tables provided in your practical manual. Once you have completed the answers for the images provided, your instructor may go through these with you and ask you questions if there is time.
Image 1: Meninges and Dural Venous sinuses: The first image you will work through involves identifying the investing dural features and the associated dural venous sinuses. Try to complete as much of each table as possible without consulting your lecture notes. Once you have done this, review the structures and questions using your lecture notes.
Once you have opened this image, you will see that there are a number of structures labeled Structure 1 – 9 that are to be identified with secondary questions that will also need to be answered.
Working with your team, identify the structures and fill in the table provided in your workbook. Note that you may need to tap on each structure label to see the associated tag. You are also able to move the image around using a light touch on the computer screen. Once you have finished this session, your faculty instructor will quiz you on a number of structures and answer any questions you may have if there is time.
Image 2: Base of the Skull: For the second image, click on the associated button to access this image. Again, you will fill in the table provided in your laboratory manual. Your instructor will also be available to answer any questions you may have regarding this image. If the instructor does not have time to go through this second image with you during the session, then it is up to you to seek out a faculty member if you have any questions about the labeling.
